Both the Chevy Suburban and the Tahoe offer lots of space for hauling people and gear, and they have an upscale cabin with the technology and safety features you want for a family vehicle. Both received some minor revisions to the available features for the 2020 model year. Here are some details to help you decide if the 2020 Chevy Suburban or the 2020 Chevy Tahoe is the SUV for you.

The Size

The Suburban is one of the largest SUVs you can find on the market. It has more interior room than most other vehicles in its class, and when equipped with a bench seat upfront, it can hold up to nine people. The standard setup in the Suburban is for eight with bucket seats for the front seat passengers, and benches in the second and third rows. In the back, there are 39.3 cubic feet with all three rows in use, and with both back rows folded down, there are 121.7 cubic feet.

The Tahoe also offers seating for up to nine people, but there is a smaller space for the third-row passengers. The cargo area in this Chevy features 15.3 cubic feet behind the third row with 94.7 cubic feet with both back rows folded down.

The Power

The standard engine in both SUVs is a 5.3-lite V-8 with 355 horsepower. It works with a six-speed automatic transmission and moves either vehicle easily. A. 6.2-liter V-8 engine is an available option for the Suburban and the Tahoe. This will get 420 horsepower, and it has a 10-speed automatic transmission. The smaller Tahoe can tow up to 8,600 pounds, while the Suburban can tow up to 8,300 pounds.

The Trim Levels

These two SUVs are very similar, including the three trim available trim. The base LS has 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, heated side mirrors, and a luggage rack. The LT has a power liftgate, it adds a color touch screen display, and it comes with five USB ports along with leather upholstery. The top-level Premier trim comes with power-folding side door mirrors, Magnetic Ride Control, 20-inch polished alloy wheels, fog lights, and HID headlights. It also has a Bose surround sound stereo with ten speakers, and it adds navigation. Stepping up to the Premier also gets you perforated leather upholstery along with heated and cooled front seats.

The Safety Features

You’ll get the same standard and optional safety features in both vehicles. A rearview camera, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver mode come standard. The LT adds forward collision warning, and the Premier adds rear cross-traffic alert along with a side blind-spot monitor with a lane-change alert system. The Enhanced Driver Alert package is an available option for any of the trims, and this comes with several safety aids, including lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a safety alert driver’s seat, and front parking sensors.

The 2020 Suburban and the 2020 Tahoe have the same trim levels, the same engines, and the same safety features. The most significant difference is the size and cargo space.
