Davis-Moore Safety Sales Event: Helping Wichita Families Drive with Confidence

At Davis-Moore, the safety of our customers and community always comes first. Every day, families across Wichita rely on their vehicles to get to work, school, practices, and weekend adventures. That’s why we’re proud to host our Safety Sales Event this month, designed to help drivers find vehicles equipped with the latest safety technology while also preparing their current vehicles for the road ahead.

Whether you’re upgrading to a newer vehicle or making sure your current one is road-ready, safety plays a major role in every drive.

What started as a simple suggestion from a longtime Davis-Moore customer—to share safety reminders like buckling up and avoiding texting while driving—has grown into our annual Safety Sales Event.

The Origin of Safety Sales Event

The Davis-Moore Safety Sales Event began 26 years ago as a way for our team to highlight something that has always been a priority for us—keeping Wichita drivers and their families safe on the road.

The Davis-Moore Safety Sales Event actually began with a conversation from a longtime Davis-Moore customer who believed more could be done to remind drivers about the importance of safe habits behind the wheel. They suggested creating a public service message to help bring attention to simple but critical reminders like buckling up, avoiding texting while driving, and staying focused on the road.

That idea sparked a larger conversation within our team, and it ultimately grew into what is now our Safety Sales Event. Today, the event continues that original mission—helping raise awareness about safe driving while highlighting the vehicles and safety technology designed to help protect Wichita drivers and their families.

Why Vehicle Safety Matters More Than Ever

Modern vehicles are equipped with advanced technology that helps prevent accidents and protect drivers and passengers. Features that once felt like luxury upgrades are now essential tools that help drivers stay alert and react quickly to changing road conditions.

From busy city streets to long highway drives across Kansas, these innovations give drivers more confidence behind the wheel.

Some of the most popular safety features available in today’s vehicles include:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking

  • Lane Keep Assist

  • Blind Spot Monitoring

  • Adaptive Cruise Control

  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert

These systems work together to help drivers stay aware of their surroundings and avoid potential hazards.

Preparing for Spring Driving in Kansas

As winter fades and spring approaches, driving conditions begin to change. Rain, storms, and fluctuating temperatures can impact road safety, which makes this a great time to ensure your vehicle is ready for the season.

During the Davis-Moore Safety Sales Event, our team encourages drivers to focus on important safety checks, including:

  • Brake inspections

  • Tire tread and pressure checks

  • Battery testing

  • Windshield wipers and visibility

  • Fluid levels and general maintenance

Taking these steps helps ensure your vehicle performs safely as road conditions shift throughout the spring months.

Finding the Right Vehicle for Your Family

For many families, safety is the most important factor when choosing their next vehicle. Fortunately, today’s vehicles are designed with safety in mind, offering driver-assist technology, stronger structural designs, and improved visibility features.

Our team at Davis-Moore is here to help drivers explore vehicles that match their needs, lifestyle, and priorities. Whether you're looking for a reliable commuter vehicle, a family SUV, or a truck ready for work and travel, safety remains a key part of every recommendation we make.

Back-to-School in Wichita: Tips for Safer, Easier Driving

The school year is officially back in session, which means busy mornings, packed schedules, sports practices, after-school activities and plenty of time spent on the road. For Wichita families, September is a great time to make sure your vehicle is ready for everything the new school year brings. Whether you're driving the kids to school, heading to football practice or making the weekly trip to the grocery store, a little preparation can make your daily routine easier and safer. Make School Drop-Off a Little Easier School mornings can be hectic. Between getting everyone ready, grabbing backpacks and making it out the door on time, the last thing you want is a vehicle issue slowing you down. Before the school year gets too busy, take a few minutes to check some of the basics: Check your tire pressure and tread. Make sure your windshield wipers are working properly. Top off your windshield washer fluid. Check your oil and other important fluids. Make sure all exterior lights are working. Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle. These quick checks can help you avoid an unexpected problem during the morning rush. Keep Safety at the Top of the List More school buses, pedestrians, cyclists and parents are on Wichita roads once school starts. That makes it especially important to slow down and stay alert around school zones. Remember to follow posted school-zone speed limits, watch for children crossing the road and never pass a stopped school bus when its warning lights are flashing. It's also a good reminder for parents and students to put the phones away while the vehicle is moving. A few seconds of distraction can have serious consequences. Don't Forget About After-School Activities Back-to-school schedules aren't just about getting to and from class. Once practices, games, clubs and weekend activities start filling the calendar, your vehicle can quickly become the family's second home. For families with multiple children, having enough room for backpacks, sports equipment and passengers can make a big difference. An SUV or larger crossover can provide the flexibility many families need, while a sedan may be the perfect fit for families looking for something easy to maneuver and efficient for daily driving. The right vehicle depends on your family's routine, which is why it's worth considering how you'll use your vehicle throughout the entire school year. Prepare Your Vehicle for the Months Ahead September also provides a good opportunity to think beyond the first few weeks of school. Kansas weather can change quickly as fall approaches, so making sure your vehicle is in good condition now can help prepare you for the seasons ahead. If your vehicle is due for an oil change, tire service, brake inspection or other routine maintenance, getting it taken care of now can give you one less thing to worry about later. Find Your Next Family Vehicle at Davis-Moore A new school year can bring new routines and sometimes, a new vehicle makes those routines easier. Whether you need more passenger space, additional cargo room, better fuel efficiency or the latest safety and technology features, Davis-Moore has a variety of vehicles to fit different lifestyles and budgets. Stop by Davis-Moore in Wichita and let our team help you find a vehicle that fits your family's needs for the school year and beyond. Ready to make your next family drive easier? Leasing or Financing: Which Option Is Right for You?

Buying a new vehicle is an exciting milestone, but one of the biggest decisions you'll make comes before you even drive off the lot: Should you be leasing or financing? Both options offer unique benefits, and the right choice depends on your driving habits, budget, and long-term goals. Whether you're shopping for a new Jeep, Chevrolet, Mazda, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, or another vehicle, understanding the differences can help you make a confident decision. Let's break down the pros and cons of leasing and financing so you can determine which option best fits your lifestyle. What is the difference between leasing and financing? Which options works best for you? What Does It Mean to Lease a Vehicle? When you lease a vehicle, you're essentially paying to drive it for a set period, typically 24 to 36 months. Instead of paying toward ownership, you're paying for the vehicle's depreciation during your lease term. At the end of your lease, you generally have three options: Return the vehicle and lease a new one. Purchase the vehicle. Return the vehicle and explore other options. Leasing is a popular choice for drivers who enjoy upgrading to the latest models every few years. Benefits of Leasing Lower Monthly Payments Because you're paying for the vehicle's depreciation rather than its full purchase price, lease payments are often lower than finance payments. Drive the Latest Technology Leasing makes it easier to enjoy the newest features, including: Advanced safety technology Updated infotainment systems Improved fuel efficiency Modern styling Lower Maintenance Costs Many leased vehicles remain under the manufacturer's warranty throughout the lease term, which can help reduce unexpected repair costs. More Flexibility If you enjoy driving a new vehicle every few years, leasing allows you to upgrade more frequently without worrying about selling or trading in your current vehicle. What Does It Mean to Finance a Vehicle? Financing means you're purchasing the vehicle by making monthly payments over a set loan term. Once the loan is paid off, the vehicle is yours. Financing builds equity in your vehicle, making it a great long-term investment for many drivers. Benefits of Financing You Own the Vehicle Once you've paid off your loan, you own the vehicle outright. That means no monthly payments and the freedom to keep it for as long as you'd like. No Mileage Restrictions Unlike most leases, financing doesn't include mileage limits. If you drive long distances for work, road trips, or family activities, financing may be the better fit. Customize Your Vehicle Because you own the vehicle, you can personalize it with accessories, lift kits, wheels, window tint, and other upgrades without lease restrictions. Build Equity Every payment brings you closer to full ownership. If you decide to trade in your vehicle later, its value can help offset the cost of your next purchase. Lease vs. Finance at a Glance Leasing Financing Lower monthly payments Build ownership and equity New vehicle every few years Keep your vehicle as long as you want Warranty coverage during most lease terms No mileage restrictions Mileage limits apply Customize your vehicle freely Return or purchase at lease end Vehicle becomes yours after payoff Which Option Fits Your Lifestyle? Leasing May Be Right for You If You: Like driving a new vehicle every few years Want lower monthly payments Drive fewer miles each year Enjoy having the latest technology and safety features Prefer warranty coverage for most of your ownership experience Financing May Be Right for You If You: Plan to keep your vehicle for many years Drive long distances regularly Want to build equity Like customizing your vehicle Want complete ownership Questions to Ask Yourself Before deciding, consider these questions: How many miles do I drive each year? How long do I usually keep my vehicles? Is having the latest technology important to me? Do I want lower monthly payments or long-term ownership? Will I customize my vehicle? Your answers can help point you toward the option that best fits your lifestyle and budget. Let Davis-Moore Help You Decide Choosing between leasing and financing doesn't have to be complicated.
